I'm running W2K Pro and I just downloaded and installed the IE6/OLxp6 upgrade from IE5.5 w/OLxp5.

Now, when I get Email w/URLs embedded and I try to access the site directly from the email, none of the URLs activate my IE browser. To access the site, I have to right click and save the URL to disk, open IE manually and cut and paste the saved URL into the IE "Address" window.

I've checked my "Tools", "Options" menus in both apps but nothing looks awry.

Whahoppen? There's gotta be some IE link to OLxp that I'm overlooking.

Check to see what the file assoication is for URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol through Explorer then TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS. Check to see what command it is running for the OPEN action.

It should be running the command to open your browser. It should be running something like:
"C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe" -nohome joegz

joegz,

Ain't got some "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol through Explorer".

I do have listed
"URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" and
"URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy".

I went on the assumption that the "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" was the same as your suggestion but "Folder Options" showed it was already using IE to open those files :-(

Whoa!! Went back and looked again after I'd submitted my first response and found that I'd made what's commonly known as a "mistake". I know...it surprised me too. :~/

Anyway, both "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" and "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy" were set to Netscape (which has been removed). I fixed it and tutto a posto!!

Many thanks joegz. I owe you a beer. [2thumbsup]
