Losing DNS resolution

New PC's I add to the windows 2000 network at work lose all DNS resolution after a user reboots. A quick look a ipconfig shows the DNS entries to be correct.If I log in (administrator) and goto properties of TCP/IP select one of the tabs exit out and let the user log back on DNS resolution returns till they reboot.

Do you have all the Service packs applied to the system? I know that they are on SP2 right now for Windows 2000. We've ran into a few problems with DNS entries that were added under different accounts, on some of the systems we would need to add the DNS information in under their account. After adding all the SP's I haven't had to do that in a long time. Don't know if it's been fixed or not but it's a good place to start..

Latest Service Packs are all installed. What do you mean when you say "need to add the DNS information in under their account" since most of my uses could use a simble reBOOTing I run policys locking them out of Network properties

We run policies as well, what I did was log in as the administrator give them temp admin rights log out then have them log in while I was at their system. Taking over their system I would go in and setup the DNS information, log out and then go in and take their admin rights away. Long process but after applying SP2 I haven't had to do that. If I run into anything else I will let you know. A peer of mine had the same issue, I will talk with him to see if he still has to go in and set the DNS information up. Sorry couldn't be more help. Couldn't hurt to reapply SP2 unless you applied it to resolve this issue. Let me know if you find a fix, could be useful as a FAQ here...

I've talked to two of my friends over the weekend, although they said either they've seen the issue or heard of it. But none of them could tell me the fix for it. If I find out anything further I will let you know.
