Hello Please Help.

I have a Travel database. When I first started entering in data my city and state fields were just input fields and then I changed them to combo lookup fields to cut back on entering duplicate city and states and to recall once entered. Now two other people that is entering off of the network is e-mailing to me that the city and state fields are not holding what they entered---that its losing data or when they entered a city and state close out and go back in a couple hours or day later the the data is lost or changed to a totally differenty city and state. How can this be?

The main computer that the database is on never have these kind of promblems only the people that is retrieving the database from a networked shortcut is losing data once they enter it. Is this a database or networking problem?!!

I know that once the database was launched on the network that a lady gave them certain rights and only the main computer (with no problems) full rights.

Where do I start with solving this problem.

What does the Control source property of the two combobox's indicate. They should have the appropriate field name in the underlying table. I suspect that it is blank. This would be the reason for not saving the data in the table. You probably created the combo's but never selected the approrpriate fields in this property.

Post back with your findings.

My customer table has the City and State fields and then I made two table lookups for City and State and linked them with the city and state in the customer table. The names are the same. As follow in the
Customers Table City Lookup State Lookup
City CityID StateID
State City State

This seems really strange because I assume that the other fields are being updated properly for the same record. Are you saying this is only happening on workstations that are linking through your network to all users?

Does everyone use the same front-end application? Please post the Row Source for the comboboxes. If it is a table what is the Bound Column for the for the combobox. It should be set to the column where the State or City text box is displayed. There may be another field in front of that column and this is why you are not getting the correct data saved. I would look also directly into some of the records that are not displaying properly and see if the data is actually not there or is it being saved as a recordnumber from the table in the combobox. Go directly into design view and look at the table data for these particular trouble records.

Post back with your findings.
