Hi, I am trying (and, atm, failing) to find a piece of software that I can use to authenticate certain security standards among *any* computer that wants to connect to our network. Currently our network is setup to allow wireless access to anyone on a guest AP outside the rest of our network, but I am trying to find out if it is still possible to verify that the PC meets certain requirements (XP SP2 or Vista, Mcafee installed with latest definitions, not running a list of p2p apps, etc.).

I have been searching for a small executable that will be able to check these things easily and then report back to our auth server the status, which can then redirect all requests if the computer doesn't meet the requirements.

Any ideas as to where I can better search?

That is no small task and you should look for something along the lines of Cisco Clean Access

Not software, but an Aventail SSL VPN will do this.
