Looking for wsock4 or 5 for Netware 5.0sp6

I need to start using timesync.nlm on a Netware 5.0 server with SP6a. Novell TDI 2961100 says I need to use OS5PT2A.exe, which I have, and wsock4.exe or higher. I can only find wsock6.exe beta and that is for Netware 5.1 and 6 and not 5.0. Where can I find wsock4.exe or newer for Netware 5.0?

You are already using timesync.nlm, it is loaded by default when the OS is loaded. Netware relies heavily on time synchronization in NDS.

Im assuming that you want to pull time from a NTP timesource on the Internet. Im currently doing this without Winsock installed. using NW5.0 with SP6a.

You don't need winsock to set time using a NTP time source. Simply point your Refrence server to a time source such as 204.152.184.72:123. Make sure that you add the colon with port 123, I would also use at least 3 seperate sources.

The only other issue is to make sure that your fire wall has port 123 open.

My problem is the timesync.nlm I was currently using caused a jump in time up to 30 years in the future and caused all sorts of problem. To fix it Novell, TIDs said to upgrade the nlm. Then the TID # 2961100 said to use that particular nlm I had to have NW5.0 + OS5PT2A.EXE + wsock4.exe of highter. Is the wsock in NW5 the wsock4.exe? How do I determine that? Thanks in advance.

Let me try again. I used timesync.nlm to set my single Netware 5.0 server using a NTP timesource. It worked for a while them began randomly resetting itself 20 to 30 years into the future, causing all sorts of problems. My research led me to consider a newer timesync.nlm. What version should I be using with NW50-SP6a? Do I need to find the recommended wsock4.exe? Is there anyother upgrade or patch I need to apply. Moving to Netware 6.x is not cost effective yet according to my CEO/CFO. Thanks again for your help.

jturner, I know what you're talking about, I've used the patches that you mention. Problem is that it doesn't look like the winsock update is available on Novell's website. The last one I was aware of was WSOCK4F.EXE. You could compare your files with the ones listed in the distribution. I found the listing on a TID, but here are the filenames and dates to check. Also, I think I have it archived somewhere, I will try to see if I can find it for you.
