Hi, first sorry for this long question but not sure how else to ask this and I'm lost on this. I work for a company that installs for SBC, and we have access to several of there systems but over dial up. I spoke with someone from SBC a few months back and they said these systems can now be accessed through a vpn connection, okay so I go and get this vpn router, I get a static ip for our company, router is working fine for everything else and getting on the internet and all that, but now I have all the paperwork from SBC on how to configure the values and parameters on the router, and well today I spoke with the IT person there and they cannot legally tell me how to configure our router, they just give us this general infor on the values and all that, I am all set up on there side, he said the tunnel is ready and all that, the problem is I am no IT person but nobody else in this small company has any clue how to even start on something like this, and they elected me for all this. I also have the pre-shared key he gave me today as well, I just don't know where to put all these ip addresses I have from him, there are about five systems we need access to and I have the ip addresses for these systems, but then on another page it has another IP address and says you'll need to statically configure the SBC peer address as the tunnel end point, and I don't know where it means to put that ip address either, and then it gives me one more ip address and says this is the vpn peer address? the first list of IPS are the eactual numbers to the systems I need to access, and these other just say what I wrote there, but I have no clue on where to put these on this router? would anyone out there be able to help? I know this is a lot but I am really lost and can't find anyone that knows this stuff, on the router I have everything filled in as for as the encryption and authentication goes, that was not bad since they wrote down what to put for them values, but then it says remote secure group & remote security gateway? that's where I am lost and not sure what to type in there? Thanks for reading this if your still here and I did not bore you with the long e-mail.

The Remote group is the subnet of the other side. The remote gateway will be the static IP of the other endpoint.

Make sure all your subnets are different. IE, you at site A are 192.168.1.x, site B is 192.168.2.x and so on.

I got a little lost with your post, I apologize.

Start one-by-one. Create one tunnel to one site and then you will see the general idea of how to do it.

Please post back with specific problems. You might also try Linksys tech support, it's free and they can probably walk you through this...

Thanks,

Matt Wray

oh and sorry my post is hard to understand, I'm not very good at writing for one and then trying to write something like that which I don't understand, makes it harder for me. :)
