Our company is looking for software that will scan for viruses before they reach the user Inbox (something which our SAV does not do), and also block spam.

Anyone had experience with this type of software? Any recommendations? I have just been going going down the MS recommended list ( and see who has the best features at the best prices, but I don't want to get hosed.

Any feedback is appreciated.

MailMarshal software from NetIQ is a SMTP gateway that scans/filters before the mail reaches the mail server. Easy to use and not too pricey.

We are running two seperate scanners on our exchange system:
Trend Micro Scanmail for Exchange and
Trend Scanmail

These programs include both, a pre-reception virus scan and an advaced spam filter system.
Keeps up-to-date automatically...

Rock on,
Maik

We use Cleaswift's Mailsweeper. It is not cheap, but is very flexible and has saved our bacon on many occasions where AV has not had a released signature for a new virus. Very effective at filtering executables etc., even hidden inside a word document. SPAM filter is "ok" but not all that intuitive to use. We also use it for a myriad of other content detection takss, and it has always worked well. We have Sophos Antivirus linked to it, and the combination has been a winning one for us.
Usual disclaimers, and I don't work for them.

Hi,

Use ORF It's cheap only $100, right now it only works with RBL, blacklist/whitelist, but their new version (still in beta) can block attachment, word etc.

I've been using it almost for 2 years, It blocks (80%-90%) spam and false positive percentage is very small. Just be careful when you choose the RBL.

Just try the trial, it's easy to install.
