I introduced yammer at my construction company. Now, rather than transmit project-start-date changes by rumor and need-to-know we post to yammer.

However I really need something simpler -- Something I can update that automatically posts on everyone's desktop (or at least those that subscribe). This should display:

A list of job start dates, sorted by job, color coded for those that changed recently.

A green, yellow, red stop sign for each job indicating that we're exceeding our budget.

I don't mind doing these things manually, but I can't find the software I need to distribute it on everyones desktop.

Yammer is really good because it comes in Mac, PC, and Android.

rather than go office to office

Hmm never heard of yammer, learn something new every day.

How about tracking the information, and doing the graphs in excel (or open office etc.) then emailing it (Maybe just a screen shot)to everyone as needed?

Also Print a copy out and hand it someplace where people will see it (Your office door, lunch room etc. )

You could also create file on a common network drive that you keep updating and people could set that file as a home page in thier browser, or a shortcut on thier desktop.

Ah, the home page of the web browser WOULD work.

I'll have to think about where I could keep it so that it doesn't turn up in Google.

Bummer that we don't have a server.

Did you try schedule cracker software to analyze your tasks, actuals, cost, budget, and to create reports? It supports MS Project and Primavera. They offer 14-day free trial on their web site I think it will help you.

We are using Picasaweb to store company photos, JitBit to track purchasing requests (it's really helpdesk software) and now I'm going to add a CRM hosted solution shortly.

I was hoping to buy a server, and move to MS Dynamics NAV but honestly there's such a wide market for hosted solutions that I can find (and tailor) them so they suit us pretty well.

If and when we get to the point where we purchase a server, people aren't going to be impressed with MS NAV.
