I have recently taken my win 95 pc and done a clean win 2000 install. Everything came up well, except it is asking me for a Multimedia Audio Controller. The sound card is part of the motherboard. Unfortunatly I have no more info to share. The motherboard is not marked.

If you can't find out what motherboard or sound card you have then at least tell me what computer you have. ie. manufacturer and model number.
Can't help you otherwise.

John

tHANKS FOR YOUR TIME THE GUY WHO OWNS THE PC FINAL GAVE ME THE MOTHERBOARD MANUFACTURER NAME SO I AM ALRIGHT. AGAIN THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

I just put in a new modem in my computer and something whent wrong, i whent to device manager and did a few things , fixed my modem but somehow screwed up my multimedia audio controller. if u could send me a place to get the drivers that would be great. My sound card is built in to me motherboard and i have the mainboard k7s5a(i think, it is what the name says on the manual so im guessing its right) please respond rsvp

looks like i might have come to the right thread...i have an hp pavilion xl768 that i need the win 2000 driver of the mulimedia audio controller for. anyone have it or know where i can get it? thanks.

I just installed Windows XP, but now need the Multimedia Audio Controller as some of the others. However, the manufacturer, Monorail (series 4200) no longer does any support. Is there a generic driver, or a way to find the manufacturer of the motherboad to which the speakers etc plug into directly?

I recently installed Windows 2000 on my computer. Everything seems to be working fine except that it won't acknowledge my soundcard and is asking me for a Multimedia Audio Controller. I've tried downloading several drivers and nothing seems to work. I'm not sure of the sound card manufacturer (it's built into the motherboard) but the computer is a Compaq Pressario Model number 9102jb93s835. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Compaq says that model number does not exist.9102jb93s835
If you do a search on their site and look for the type using the other numbers, you might find the sound card type.
(presario 9100,9200)A look through the motherboard manual that comes with the computer should say what kind of sound is built onboard.

Compaq will provide you with "Parts for your System"

Its called the As-Sold Configuration Utility.

Enter your serial number and you should receive a component listing..Your serial number is on a small decal on rear of your case. If you cannot find it there, you can find it in your registry at this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProductID

After entring your serial number you should receive a listing similar to this (partial list example)

Serial Number: 1X08DTZRB0KF (your's will be different)

Description:
Part Number Description
151558-B2A Close-up
151636-00A Win98 OSR1.0 Base Images
151683-B2A 1394 INF Patch
151684-B2A MS 1394 DV QFE
151686-00A Diamond Rio MP3 Player
151698-00A MS Word 2000

151716-B2A SFC patch for user.exe
155923-00A MS Works 2000

Hi..... I have installed - upgraded from windows 98 to 2000 and now have no sound. I cannot find a driver for "multimedia audio controller" or for "pci simple communications controller". I have a hp brio 410, product P4177B#ABM I have searched hp for drivers and upgraded to no avail.
Thanks

There are so many requests for Win 2000/XP audio drivers, for different systems, that I can't be specific. If you can find out what onboard sound card you have you may be able to locate the Win 2000/XP drivers here:

These drivers are for Gigabyte motherboards but if you have the same type onboard sound ( i.e. Creative CT5880, VIA 686, etc.)then one of these drivers will work.

Find the original driver on your motherboard CD. That should help to identify your onboard sound card.

Sorry I can't be more specific.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

John

The PCI simple communications controller is usually the modem.Reinstall the drivers and point to the modem drivers. It should then find and install the modem.
I looked at HP's site and they dont support W2K but if you can find the type of sound card that is on the motherboard you should be able to find W2K drivers from the actual manufacturers site.
