I have downloaded a program called Proksi that works great for http protocols however I can't ping with it or connect to a router at another location. I need a proxy (preferably free) that will allow full ppp and tcp/ip communications. Am I doing something wrong or is this typical of free proxy's???? Why can't I ping the other network, I can only ping the proxy not the router or anything past the proxy? Help please.

I have used Proksi a couple of times, and had no trouble with it. (Nice, small footprint...)

What exactly is your network setup, and what are you trying to do with Proksi? Are you on a subnet and trying to share your internet connection with other users, via a dialup, or DSL connection? Do you have to go through another proxy to get your web connection? (proxy let's you "sub-proxy" to other users from your proxy connection)

I think each common proxy can handle TCP/IP. To allow Ping over the proxy you must allow the ICMP service.

A very good proxy for use at home or in smaller companies is Qbik's Wingate. I think for private use you can get it from their website for free.

Proxy + is free with limited users, but is fully configurable for IP, secure links, etc.

I use Rhinosofts allegrosurf. It is not free if you use all the facilites (after the 30 day trial)but you can choose to use them 1 at a time and then it is free. But it is not that expensive about £100 odd quid ($199 - much less than $999 for MS Proxy). I run 18 computers off it via adsl. Recommend it so give it a try.
