Hi,

I am looking for a good firewall for my network. Descriptive isnt it? :) Anyhow, I am working on setting up a few dedicated servers here in my office. We are getting a 1.5Megbit connection pipped in, and we will have a web server, DNS and of course a mail server and more to come later. I have been looking at firealls, but I am not sure where to start and which one is the best, so I am looking for some help from someone on choosing one. Please reply with your recommendations. Thanks!

Well, I guess if I had the choice Iwould probably get the following:-

Nokia IP series (330, 440 or 530- depends what you want it for).
Runs cut down version of Free BSD and IPSO.
Checkpoint NG.

The 440 and 530 option may seem like too much for what you want. Have a look at the Nokia site and see.

We have been very happy with our Watchguard Firebox/SOHO solution. We have a fairly basic design behind the firewall (email/web servers and LAN) and are tunneling VPN and TS. We have not purchased Spamguard but see that it is written up quite often as an excellent add-on product.

Do a google search on "firewall appliance reviews"
There are several industry magazines that do semi-annual roundups.

(Note the date of any article you find, however. I read through a 15 page review and was quite impressed until I noticed it was published four years ago!)
