Hi.
Iam looking for 4.0 Goldmine Standard Licenses.
10, 15, or 25 License (maybe 50) will be fine.
Tried to buy via FrontRange, but the do not sell old versions any longer.
Maybe someone has some license from the last update?
Please give me a mail with your price idea.

Or if there is a regular forum for buying old licenses direct me there :).

Thanks in Advanced,
Harald

Why do you need such old licenses? Why not upgrade?

Matter of price? :)
4.0 has everything we need. Why spend thousands for something we dont need.

Because its old, unsupported, may have severe problems working with current operating systems (windows 2000 and XP) since these operating systems did not exist when the software was created, and hence were never tested on these operating systems.

Also 'everything we need'? Knowing nothing about your business, 'everything we need' is not a static requirement. It had darn well better change with the times, or your company will go down the tubes (lots of companies that do change with the times still go down the tubes).

Also have you evaluated the abilities of the current version of Goldmine vs 4.0 to see if you can use any of these new features? I'll bet you did not.

Eagerly awaiting your response.

4.0 works fine under 98, NT, W2000 and XP :).
Testet on about 50 different machines without any problems.
I have checked and tested the new versions.
They are great and have a lot of features.
But we primary use Goldmine as a Contactmanager and Email System.
We dont use the Opportunity- and Projectsystem.
So 4.0 still fine for small money.

Thanks,
Harald

Agreewith Richard however the Upgrade Protection Program is not overly expensive and there is a lot of hidden technology in the newer version far beyond just looking at GoldMine or the marketing documentation.

It wont be worth UPP (Upgrade Protection Program) for any with over 10 users with the release of 7 - possibly ;)

So if you could give me an information.

I have now a 25 Goldmine 4.0 Standard License.
I need now 50 Clients.

If I go to up to 50 Clients with the UPP or whatever, what will it cost?
A approximate price will be fine. Dont care about 10% plus/minus.

Thanks in advanced.

Harald

You're probably looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $8000-$9000 US...

That's with UPP, of course. Without UPP, you could probably find it for half that. Given FrontRange's plans with 7.0, you would need to go to Enterprise edition to move to 7.0, so, unless you want to do that, you're going to be living in 4.0 or 6.7 until you decide to go to the enterprise edition...

Keep in mind, UPP will get you to 6.7 with 50 licenses. No UPP and you'll be on 4.0 with 50 licenses.

You'll probably also want a consultant to do the upgrade and get you up to speed on the minor differences in administration...

We were told by Greg Anderson a couple of weeks ago that it was not definitive that they were going to impose a limit on the number of users on GM.
