Long Time between backing up dbspaces 1

We are running an onbar whole backup using Data Protector. There are times that there is up to 45 minutes between the completion of one dbspace backup and the start of another. Of course at other times, there is practically no time in between. It is not consistent as to which dbspace this occurs.

Another example of an "odd" thing is that according the bar_act.log, one dbspace took 4 minutes to backup BUT the data protector log said 50 minutes.

There are backups of logs going on at the same time as the backups, but I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

I have my BAR_MAX_BACKUP set to 0, which I thought meant that as many onbar processes as possible could run at the same time.

I would really appreciate any feedback from anyone else who has experienced this problem before.

TIA

If you are running a whole system backup (-w), it runs as a serial process, thus only one onbar thread. Drop the '-w' to run a parallel backup. And logical log backups can run at the same time as the dbspace backups without issue. One similar issue we encountered with Informix and our 3rd party storage manager (BMC SQL-BT) was a signal between the two not being received at the end of a logical log backup, which caused the onbar process to go thru X number of iterations before it timed out - usually about 15 minutes worth of waiting.
