I have a column with a set width. Is there a way to break a long text to prevent formatting issues?

For instance " will cause the column to increase its width and formatting is lost.

Set a defined width on the the column or cell. Most likely you have it set to 100%, so it will grow. Try setting to a specific width, eg. width="250px

Yes I did that. In IE it seems to work, but in firefox the text continues to extend pass the table column.

If you were only targeting IE browsers, you could use:
Code:
word-break: break-all
but this doesn't work on all browsers.

I'd ask this question in the HTML/CSS forum though as this isn't an ASP.NET issue.
