I'm running IP Office 500. How can I restrict long distance outbound calls for certain extensions?

in the specific user form clich short code and enter a shortcode similiar to:

91N;
N
Busy

and a short code

90N;
N
Busy

repeat for all other users.

Do not use a user shortcode this way
I noticed lately that when you have a 0 or 9 for secondairy dialtone you can get around

Example

0N
dial
0
50:main

And ofcourse ARs 50:main has secondairy dialtone checked

When you press a 0 you go to ars 50
When you have a user shortcode with

00
busy

line id 0

When you press 00 you get besy
When you press 0 and wait you get secondairy dialtone and can call out !!!

You need to make a seperate ARS for this and give the user there user shortcode pointing that ARS

I had the IP Office installed 4 weeks ago so I don’t know much about it (trying to learn). How should the ARS and short codes be setup to block the long distance calls and allow making local calls 301-934-xxxx?

To go out users dial 8 then the desired number.
Short code for that is 8N.

My ARS looks like this:

Code Telephone# Feature Line Group Id
911 911 Dial Emergency 0
0N; 0Ns3019343800 Dial 3K1 0
1N; 1Ns3019343800 Dial 3K1 0
N; Ns3019343800 Dial 3K1 0
xxxxxxxxxxN Ns3019343800 Dial 3K1 0

Make a new ARS with the same settings
Only change the long distance in busy instead of dial
Make a user shortcode

8N
dial
N
New ARS

@tlpeter

If true then SC precedence is broken since a code in the user form should not even touch ars unless directed. Interesting. I suppose that monitor would reveal the situation in a CMARS line. I suppose that directing 9N in a user form to a new ars form for restriction is a solid way to keep it in ars.

I haven't seen that happen but good catch anyway.

Try it :)

In your case pressing 9 does not match a user shortcode after the dial delay timer and goes to ARS

Tlpeter,

Blocking long distance works. What should do to block LD but allow local calls out? Local numbers start with 301934xxxx.
In to the user's tab "Shortcode" I put in shortcode 8N N Busy 51(ARS) and the ARS 51 inludes

Code Telephone# Feature Line Group Id
911 911 Dial Emergency 0
0N; 0Ns3019343800 Dial 3K1 0
1N; 1Ns3019343800 Dial 3K1 0
N; Ns3019343800 Dial 3K1 0
xxxxxxxxxxN Ns3019343800 Dial 3K1 0
