hi... one of our hotel rooms was somehow making long distance calls from a room when they should be blocked from making any long distance calls (room is paid for by an outside organization.) I do not know exactly how to do this on the SV8300. Can anyone assist me with a step by step that is super easy to understand? I was thinking I have to create a "service restriction class" and then apply it only to the extensions that I need it for but I'm worried about messing up anything currently in place. Thank you.

This can be a very easy or very difficult thing to do.
First, do you have a PMS system? If so, then it should be done using that software.
If not, then you need access to the phone system through NEC's PCPro program.
CMD 1201 is used to assign a restriction class for day and night modes. EX: 1201>ext#>11 = class 1 for day and 1 for night, 12 = class 1 day and 2 night.
Check the class for a station that is correct, then match the class to the ones that are not.
All of this assumes that the classes of service were already set up by your installer.

As Belvedere says, if you have a PMS system, you need first to check with them. The reason being that many PMS systems will change the class of restriction on check in and check out. So the first step would be to find out what classes are being assigned and when. With that information you can then move on to blocking long distance for the appropriate class. If you can't get that information easily, simply check a room in and check CMD 1201 then check them out and see if it changes.

Thank you gentlemen! I'm glad you are out there ! [bigsmile]

Depending on how LCR was originally setup toll restriction might not be functional. You would need to list up your LCR to figure it out.

To list it up you need to have access to PC Pro and know how to use the scripting tool. If you do a read on this commands it will tell you everything you need to know about the routing. I know you will not really understand it.

If you want to work out how your LCR is set up, there is an FAQ for the IVS/IPS and as the 8300 is just the next generation of these systems, the FAQ is still valid. Have a look here.... Link
