Logon script specified in profile tab in Active directory not running

I have placed a file path to a batch file in the logon script section of the profile tab for a user in their active directory profile tab. I have also placed a home folder connect to: The home folder maps when the user logs on, but the logon script does not run. The logon script is in the home folder and you can see it by going to the mapped drive.

If you manually launch the logon script it does run. Does anybody have any ideas what is going on?

Rather than using the mapped drive, use the UNC name to run the script.

So instead of x:\script.bat run \\server\share\script.bat Marc Creviere

I tried the file path both ways. First I tried \\server\share\file.bat and then I tried X:\file.bat neither worked. Is there a setting I'm overlooking?

I'd make sure that the permissions on the share and on the filesystem match what's on your NETLOGON share. I'm not sure if that script runs as the user or not.
(that's at C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\domain.fqdn\scripts)

I think your problem is that you have the BAT file in the users home directory. Instead, you should place the logon *.bat file in the NETLOGON directory on your domain controllers. (This is where all logon scripts run from...therefore, a path is not needed.) So, go into the user profile and type FILE.BAT [no path is need].

THEN:

Place the *.bat in the C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\domain.fqdn\scripts directory of one of your domain controllers. The script will automatically be replicated to all other domain controllers. You will then be able to view your script in the NETLOGON directory of your domain controllers.

To see this, goto to START --> RUN and type \\servername\netlogon (You can do this from any computer in your domain)

You should see your *.bat logon script file.


Login as the user...
