logon dialog window does not appear

I have seen that a couple of locations of ours when connecting via modem it all looks ok until we push enter after SSSSSSSSSS; , then a logon dialog window should appear in Winfiol.
When trying to access the same node from EMG in DNA via the Telnet session , we get as result from DNA 'no prompt received' .
We have upgraded one location to SP8 but the fault came back.
The solution to obtain access at all is to ask the on-site personell to push the LPU5 button and wait 5-10 seconds.

Anyone experienced this and how to resolve it ?

Are you calling a niu via modem or IPU?
I have seen problems connecting to NIU via TCP, sometimes you get the "cant get prompt..." from EMG. Normally this is fixed by increasing the "inter caracter delay" (I think it is called that) in EMG. Login to EMG but do not connect to the MD110. Go into menu "Application"+"Communications" in the first tab I guess you use Telnet/SCS, go the the next tab (flik på svenska) and increase the "Intercaracter delay"-value. Normally this only 10ms, use 20-30 instead. This is the time between every sent S..S..S..S..S when you connect to the MD110.
I have seen problems logging on to RS232 ports on niu before also, but that was in the early days of the niu, check your niu revision, and if it´s to old I would change or upgrade the firmware.

NIU is called from both modem (v.24 and telnet/LAN), no IPU boards. NIU boards are new ROF=R3A and FW=R12A.
I do get SSSSSSS echo when connection through modem but after ; and enter no logon window is replied.

The intercaracter delay , is this needed in EMG when using telnet session ?

this is a regular occurance i came across this loads of times as a servive eng you dont have to button the lpu all you have to do is pull the niu card out wait 10 secounds push it back in wait another 10 secounds then all should be ok

Actually we have tried pulling out the NIU boards on the particular site having this problem , without success.

yes. shouldn't it be ? do you suspect that the board position is faulty ?

can you acess the niu with niux command
if not maybee you should try another niu board.

Hi!
As I see, problem may caused in RS232 cable. You must decrease the baudrate if cable is too long. But sometimes the restart of board (from another NIU) is helpful.
In my NIU firmware R2A loaded. Are somebody may post the latest version of NIF (R12 or later) to serg_75@pisem.net ?
