Flat or faulty batteries is usually the first suspect All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

I checked/changed the batteries to no avail. The LED on the mouse is responsive. There is no LED illumination in the receiver. I pressed the 'connect' button on the receiver for 10 or more seconds. Still no response.

There is a small hole on the bottom of the receiver I think, press it with a pencil or some other pointing object.

are you using the USB? try using the PS/2 connection...it is recommended you use the PS/2 over the USB

The activation button is on the mouse, above the battery compartment, press it with a pencil. This is valid for the cordless trackman that uses the same receiver Steven van Els

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them all, but no luck. I surrendered and exchanged it for a corded optical mouse.
