Login to IIS5 with Login and Password in URL

Hi outhere,
I wan't to have the possibility to enter our IIS5.0 with the Login and password in the URL. I can do it in the forum with

http://www.tek-tips.com/passcheck.cfm?handle=LOGIN&pass=PASSWORD

Is this something special or can that also be done on aan IIS5.0.

Sending the username/password in the way that you illustrate is purely a device used by the Cold Fusion script the runs the forum. The http protocol supports passing username/password in the URL as follows:-

http://POST:Username:Password@www.yoursite.com

This requires BASIC authentication to be enabled - I do not beleive it will work with Challenge/response.

from the Internet Explorer I get "Invalid Syntax" the Netscape Navigator doesn't even start doing something. Any idea.
