Login Screen is in a continual loop...

I log in and I get the cheesy login in music, but the the login screen pops up again...
I've tried this with the local administrator as well as a generic user...

No success...

Same thing occurs in safe mode...

Am I looking at a rebuild?

Any more background (presumably this wasn't happening and then it was - what happened in between? Changed hardware/software? Virus? Major crash?). Is this standalone or networked machine?

Yeah... guy said he had a virus... after I queried him...
Basically took the hdd out, put it into my test machine and scanned it... Lol! over 350 infections... Cleaned it all and told him I had to rebuild...

They never want to tell you the whole story first...
It just stopped logging in... (Rriigghhhttt)
