I want to restrict perticular system or IP to login In my System.
Can anybody tell me how can I do it?

thanks,
Ajay Lohani

Hi Ajay,

Best bet would be to install a firewall - Checkpoint is really good.
If you are using IIS 4.0, you can deny access to your to either a specific IP or a whole network/subnet (using network IP and subnet mask).

If you are using Linux box. Then you can use ipchains.

It is better to deny the whole subnet so the person cannot just use another PC or change their IP address (by using DHCP and obtaining another IP from the subnet)

If you want to restrict within your network try adding /etc/hosts.deny file listing the IPs that you want to bar access from. Ian

"IF" is not a word it's a way of life

Hi Ian,

I created the /etc/hosts.deny file but my problem is still same and I am not able to restrict perticular IP system.

Please help.
