Hi,

I just received the Demo CD for TeraData and I have loaded it on my XP mchine.

When i try to access the BTEQ or any other utility for instance i have Login problem.

Q1. Is there any default userid and Password to login to BTEQ? I had tried
Enter your logon or BTEQ command:
.login dbc
Password :dbc

The message i get it

***
*** CLI error: MTDP: EM_NOHOST(224): name not in HOSTS file or names database.

*** Return code from CLI is: 224
*** Error: Logon failed!

*** Total elapsed time was 10 seconds.

Teradata BTEQ 08.02.00.00 for WIN32. Enter your logon or BTEQ command:

What is the Hosts file? Whre can i locate this file?

What am i supposed to get this running? I am new at TearaData and your help would be greatly apprecaited.

Regards,
Sulu.

Did you install the tools from the demo? It's supposed to create the expected entry in the hosts file.

But you can add that entry yourself:
Open <windows dir>\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with an editor and look for an entry with 127.0.0.1

After editing that entry should look like:
127.0.0.1 localhost dbc dbccop1 demo1099cop1

Hello,

I have experienced similar problems, but I am trying to access a Teradata box via a laptop with a newotrk connection.

I get exactly the same error as above, but do actually have a

127.0.0.1 localhost
entry in the host file.

Do I need to edit any other host files?

I have copied the IP addresses etc from my nework desktop...

Thanks in advance,
