Hey everyone,

I'm runnin Win2k Pro. I'm not loging into a server, I use it for my home pc. There are computers connected to it via a router, but thats just my local area network to share my cable modem connection.

So I logoff Windows 2000 last night to go to bed, everything was running fine. I get up this morning to do a little bit of work on my computer, turn it on, and I cannot login! Whether I login as administrator or any other user, it just hangs at "Loading your personal settings...".
Has anyone experienced this before? It's driving me nuts, and I really really really really really don't want to do a re-install of win2k... THere must be a solution to this head-ache..

Also, In both types of safe modes (command prompt and normal safe mode) it does this exact same thing. It just sits there and never finishes loading.

Any takers?

I have had it hang b4, but I have no idea why. Usually though if I hit Ctr-Alt-Del it will get past it and load. But, as I said I have no idea why.

I just had this happen to me.
I was trying to load a modem driver, ansd deleted the old one. During reboot, it hung.
I cold booted, and hit (F8?) for advanced boot options.
Starting in safe mode I was able to reload the modem driver. It worked fined after that!
A few tries (of installing a modem driver)later, it did not work, but told me my graphics driver was bad.
I reinstalled the graphics driver, and voila.

Use f8 and the choose Last Known Good Configuration! Must work!

Guys,
Thanks for the replies... However, none of these have worked. I'm afraid that I might have to just take out the hard drive, hook it up to another computer... back everything up... and do a fresh install of Win2k Pro.

Thanks for the time. If anyone else has any clues, please feel free to respond, as to the fact that I won't have time to do this reformat until the weekend.

Have you tried reseating the memory or maybe the video card. Just a thought.

HAve had this problem a few times and it it has always bee the graphics card, known problem on Dell PC's that we work with and certain chipset - if it worked the previous evening I think your best bet would be to check the card seating as previous post.

Allright, I'll give that a try. Thanks guys! I'll let you know how it works out.
