i am a newb with win 2000 server...i created a file call logstudents.bat with one line "pause" just to see if it would be executed during login. if i logon at the server
it works, but when i logon at a workstation it does not execute the logstudents.bat file. the workstation is xp pro
the group policy is on the domain level.
i just want to get the bat file to execute on a workstation for now....then i can slowly work up my way...

Hi

The XP machine is a part of your domain ? Is the logon script in the correct part of the gpo ? Is the gpo linked to the correct OU that the XP box is in , or the user that logs on ? Does the use have a roaming profile ?

Sheesh

Is the login script being stored in the C:\winnt\sysvol\sysvol\domain_name\scripts directory? This is the equivilent of the Netlogon share in NT and also is shared as Netlogon. If the script is being stored somewhere under the sysvol dir you ned to make sure you are referencing it using a UNC path, otherwise it will only work on the server. After trying many locations I find it best to sctick to the Netlogon share. This is also the only way that 9x clients can run the scripts.
