Hi there,

Our old telecomms engineer used to log into our hipath 3500 remotely to make changes, but now that engineer has disappeared and I've taken over on an amateur basis.

This Hipath is not connected to the internet or modem that I can see; As the only wires in are telephone extensions to the internal system.

How can you remotely login without this being the case?

Surely you obtained a handover or a document ?

How is local access completed ?
RDP to a PC on your network that has that local access.

If it is on ISDN lines then remote access can be via those. You need ISDN lines and modem to do it from your end. If you have a Hipath at your end then vcapi will also work using your Hipath as the modem.

He was probably using a DIAL UP connection. If the HiPath has a card called IMOD or IMODN installed on the main board (it's a small card plugged ON the main board), you can set a DID number that receive calls and connect to the PBX for remote administration.

Also you can log on to the system and administer it via the main phone
A bit cumbersome but it can be done to do small changes.
