I have a remote user whom I am not sure what his computer name is on the domain. I do know his logon name is. Is there anyway for me to discover his computer name through some type of search of who is logged on?

If the user is logging in to a domain the easiest thing to do would be to create a custom MMC and use the Shared Folders snap-in.

Go to Start > Run and type mmc click OK.

This will open an MMC console Window. From the File menu select Add/Remove Snap-in... Click the Addbutton then scroll down the list of snap-ins until you see one called Shared Folders. Click on it to highlight it, then click the Add button. You will be prompted to select a computer (the default is your computer). Put a check in the Another Computer box and browse to select your Domain Controller (or another server that you know this user connects to). Click Finish, then OK a few times and you will be back at the console window.

Click on the plus sign (+) next to Shared Folders. It will expand to show, amongst other things, "Sessions". Click on Sessions and you will see a list of users who are connected to the remote computer. It will show you the Username, Computername and IP address.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much SpotLizard. That was must helpful. I knew that the MMC was a powerful tool, but did not realize it would do that. THANKS [2thumbsup]
