This seems to be an answer i can not find anywhere.

I am setting up log shipping on the SQL 2000 server. The primary server is Enterprise addition. I am having a second server built.

Does the warm stand by also need 2000 Enterprise addition?

Yes. All server participating in Log shipping need to have SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Editions.
 
Yes, if you are going to use the Microsoft Log shipping then they both need to be Enterprise Edition.

However if you write your own log shipping jobs then no, they don't need to both be Enterprise Edition. See my FAQ faq962-5754 for more info on writting your own log shipping.
