Hi,
we have a XP-Pro machine acting as a kind of a file-server. It provides a share with a number of files like photos, videoclips etc. to be viewed by staff.

No sophisticated technology: users just connect to the share via Windows Explorer and double-click the file, starting the applic (Media Player or similar) on their PCs.

We however do not know if anybody ever viewed any of those files.

Is there a simple way logging the opening of a file?

In explorer right click the column header bar (near the word Name), then click "More" and place a checkmark in the box "Date Accessed".

Thanks bcastner,
this is better than nothing, but rather unpractical: first you see only the last time a file was opened, not by how many people or how many times it happened. Secondly, you have to open every directory and have a look there.
If a small log file could be produced, that would be ideal.
Any idea if this is possible?

Thanks ZH
