I am a user of MS2000 professional. My log on to windows page has suddenly stopped accepting my password. Is there any way I can get into my PC?

More details are necessary.

Sorry, but the obvious question must be asked.. Is your Caps Lock key on/off?

Are you running a stand-alone, peer-to-peer or client-server architecture?

If client-server, do you have privileges on the server to allow member policy modifications? If so, just gain access to your account and change password.

If standalone or peer-to-peer, better try to remember your password.

I am on a standalone, and the password has not changed. Is there a timing device on W2k perhaps?

There is a time related security feature accessible from within the management console of Win2000 clients. I am confident that the default is the following:

Account lockout duration: 30 min
Account lockout threshhold: 3 attempts
Reset account lockout after: 30 min

What particular message are you getting when attempting to logon? Is it telling you that you have been locked out and to contact the system administrator?

It says: The system could not log you on. etc etc. It doesn't mention the system administrator.

Thanks for the help.
