I have a windows 2000 pro machine. It has been working fine for a week since I got it. Now when I try to logon it makes it to the logon sound and then logs out. Does anyone have a suggestion.
Enter system in safe mode (F8 upon booting). Check the Event Logs to see what is being registered under App & System Logs. Give us an update. Best Regards, -md
I tried the F8 method. When I tried to login it did just like before and loged me back out immediately. Do you have any more suggestions. Any would be appreciated.
Jeff, can you get into the system at all? Different login, or login local machine (if default is domain or workgroup)? If so, verify that the Net Logon Service is being loaded. The exectuable is located C:\WinNT\System32\Isass.exe, you may wish to rename it and expand it fresh from I386. Easier on FAT32 than NTFS?
I have tried to boot from the last known configuration too. I hate to say it but I gave up and rebuilt the computer from scratch. Thanks for all of your help
