Locked Layers

I created the layer, I locked it so I wouldnt inadvertently move it around. I've tried duplicating & renaming, but nothing unlocks it. This is so damn annoying. I made the layer, I locked it, I am the master of this image, why will it not bow down to me and unlock? I'm using CS by the way.

Something like unlocking a layer should be simple and easy not a frustrating task.

Im such an idiot, the padlock at the top of the layers palette. How do I think i locked it in the first place? What a fool this JRundle character is.

Usually you can double click the layer then hit the enter key to unlock.
