I am using Win XP Home and have two folders with long, random HEX names in the root. Both mention 'Visual C++ 2008' in the text files.
Underneath are loads of sub-directories with names like '1025'. Each contains a DLL and a RTF text file. Apparently in the language supported by that DLL.
I have properly uninstalled Visual C++ Redistributable, but these two sub-directories are somehow locked in place.
Can not remember, if I installed the package twice! I had ver. 2005 and 2008 both, but both these directories seem to be for 2008 only.
The properties seem to be 'partly' write protected, but I do not have permission to change it. Not even as Administrator logged in in Safe Mode.
OK, each directory totals about the same amount as my very first hard drive back in the 80s, so not that much space lost here (about 10 MB each), but I could easily do without Arabic, Greek, Russian, Chinese and Zulu support!
Any idea how to remove those directories?
I could imagine, that should I reinstall that Redistributable package, again, I will end up with a third directory, just as locked.
