I have a DB problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with. For some reason - out of the blue - our DB has appeared to lock everyone out! When anyone tries to open the DB (mdb file) you will get the error "You do not have the necessary permissions to use C:\..... .mdb object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you."

I have tried to open the file holdign the shift key - same error window pops up. I tried to open a new DB and import data from this one - same error window.

At this point I'm clueless on how to continue. I'm also semi-thinking the DB may have been sabatouged by a disgruntaled employee? Possibly writing in a section of VBA code to trigger after he left? Just a thought.

But the DB in question contains a LOT of historical information that needs to get retrieved. Any help anyone out there can provide would be GREATLY appriciated!
(BTW: I cannot attach a sample - too large and sensitive information possibly contained in DB)

Thank You

No one, not even me can open it right now - regardless of the location. I have put the DB on my desktop to work on it so I definatly have access to the folder.

Is the DB secured ?
If so, are you sure to use the correct .mdw ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

The DB is not SUPPOSE to be secured. At least no password requred to open it.
As far as the MDW file ... how can I find out if I am using the correct one? I had the owning shop search the directory to where the MDB file is stored and they found a "secured.mdw.mdw" file. They sent that to me. I'm not 100% sure how to use/what to do with it. I put it in the same folder as the MDB on my machine. From looking at the file there are only ADMIN/USERS/MAPDATA/JOHNSONJW listed.
Mapdata is the name of the DB
JohnswonJW is the original creator (Long since left - no idea where)

Is there a way to associate a MDW file with a MDB file without opening the MDB? I guess I need to read up even more on this process.

I'm still not convinced that is the problem though. I'm wondering if the DB did not get corrupted somehow. I tried using Jet Compact on it - and I got an error "Error Compacting Database
