Lock Screen not working

I'm running RedHat 8.0 and when I click on "Lock Screen" nothing happens. Any ideas??

If you are running as root, this is the expected behaviour. xscreensaver refuses to start for the root user.
You should have a separate user account anyway, since the root account should only be used for maintainance tasks.

Thanks! I have a regular user account, I just wasn't aware that root can't use this function. Thanks again!

interesting i get the same problem when running vmware....

xscreensaver works but KDE screenscaver does not... (icon next to clock) ...

this has happened forever... rh7 rh8 rh9 mandrake 7 8 9.2 etc etc
