Location of attachments in email message 1

Hi all,

Outlook XP here. When attaching a file to an email message, say a PDF doc, Outlook places the attachment in the body of the email, often right smack dab in the middle of the text. Is there a way to make Outlook put the attachment in an "attachment field" below the subject field? Sometimes it does, but I don't know why it sometimes does, but most times it puts it in the email body. I'd like all attachments to go in a separate "attachment field" below the subject.

Sounds like the attachment placement is related to your cursor location when you make the attachment. I know Lotus Notes does this, maybe Outlook's the same?

Rich text format = attachment icon in the message body.

HTML or plain text format = attachement in the attachment field.

I don't see how your explanation relates to a PDF being placed in the body as grinnineddies said was happening. Are you able to shed any light on this?

It seems MintJulep is correct. When I change to HTML or plain text, attachments are put in a separate "field" below subject. Change back to rich text, attachments go in the email body. I'd be curious if anyone can answer why this is the case? But if not, at least I know the cause.
