ok i have a remote site that is totally independant to us - seperate site - wan link etc

if i create a framepkg file and auto dump it out to them from their login script or whatever - how do the clients locate the orchestra server

ie whats the order
can i just place an entry into their dns for the server - or would i need to point them to a wins or ?

The agents have the IP address of the ePO server embedded inton the framepkg file. As long as the site you are talking about is using a valid IP range, you should be O.K.

The agents will also pick up the FQDN of the ePO server, and try to use it if the IP address fails. There are a couple of different ways to re-generate the framepkg file if you need to (in case the FQDN wasn't configured when ePO was installed). Browse to the repository directory where the framepkg exists.
\Program files\network associates\epo\(x.x.x)\DB\Software\Current\EPOAGENT3000

Then delete the existing framepkg file and cold boot the ePO server. When the ePO server comes up, it checks to see the framepkg in it's repository, if the framepkg file isn't present, it compiled a new copy. This will force the framepkg to re-capture the server specific settings.

Then you can rely on a DNS entry to get visibility to your remote office(s).
