Local phone numbers terminated in another city?

Does anyone know of a service other than remote call forwarding, where you can buy numbers in one city but have then ring to a phone system in another city?

you can get a foreign exchange number from your telco. this makes the phone line you get actually appear as if it was in the other city when calls are made from it. calls to it are treated as local. the billing will probably vary depending on the telco.

you can get a voip service with the phone number from another city.

Thanks guys, you came up with the same three thing s on my list. RCF to a toll free number in the other city and SIP trunks (not supported here yet). I was hoping for a hybird services where a third party would provide the local number and deliver to us in another city as a local call.

Fonedude, I was going to say the same exact thing, we use Google voice to have a local number that then rings a cell phone across the US.
