local area connection saying unplugged when connected

ok im trying to bridge my pc and xbox. i have a ethernet cord going from my router to one of the ethernet ports on my pc then i have a crossover cable going from another pci ethernet port on my pc to my xbox. the one ethernet cord comming from my router is connected and running but the crossover cable going from my pc to the xbox is connected but it still says unplugged. i have cheacked to crossover cable and its fine so i dont know whats wrong any help would be great

Why not hook the xbox up to the router as well?

well im trying to bridge it so i can use commview and zone alarm pro to moniter the ip addresses comming through my xbox

Is the network adapter going to the Xbox configured correctly? Does it have an IP address, etc?

If you are trying to bridge it, how is the bridge configured? Does your PC have RRAS or ICS on it?
