When you logon to the domain it creates local accounts on the machine for the logon user.

I want to delete some of these accounts on the machine but obviously becuase it's created when loggin on to the doimain it won't show under local accounts. What is the best way to delete these accounts without creating havoc? Many Thanks

I'm hoping you mean that when a Domain user logs onto the machine it creates a profile folder for that user.

If you wish to delete these follow the steps below.

1. Right Click "My Computer", Choose "Properties".
2.T hen choose the "Advanced Tab"
3.In the middle of that page click on the "Settings" button in the "User Profiles" rectangle.
This will show all the profiles stored on the local machine and will indicate the tyep by prefixing the username with either DOMAIN\username or LOCALPC\username.
4. You can higlight and delete the profile for any user apart for whom you're logged on as.

Deleting these will obviously free-up some HDD space, the profile page will indicate the size of each.

Please be aware though that anything saved on that user's desktop, My Documents, mailboxes, etc. will be deleted also as they live in the user profile.

Hope this helps.

If you are using Group policy then you can set a gpo to remove the profiles when they log off if you are using roaming profiles.

Also be very careful deleting unknow profiles through system properties. You may end up deleting a users data and it is almost impossible to recover. If you are going to remove profiles go to C:\Documents and Settings and copy them to a temp location first.
