Are there any options for load balancing when it comes to unc paths? I have an app that requires:

\\servername\share

thanks.

I beleive that there are some options in DFS that can do this for you. Someone with more experience with DFS than I will need to speak to it however.

what about \\10.1.1.1\share

where 10.1.1.1 is a virtual ip?

mrdenny is right. Domain based DFS will do exactly what you want.

you'll end up with a path like

\\domainname\sharename

but it will point to multiple targets like

\\server1\share
\\server2\share

Windows and NT Admin.

Is DFS available on windows 2000 standard or windows 2003 standard?

thanks.
