Hi, form 6i has nice feature let us load image, sound format files into database, but how form 6i can load
other blob format (say dwg CAD format) into database by
creating a trigger button?

Or we have to load them through SQL*plus? I find that DBMS package does not work in form 6i enviroment, so i can not
use them for trigger button in form 6i.

Merry X'mas!

Dear Sem,

It works! I can insert new object into database and ,view it in form and retrieve it.

however i still have question for the existing data in a table. (the table has many PDF/DOC files in one column, the data have been loaded into 9i database by DBMS package.)
How i can view them or retrieve those existing data (not load by OLE container)in 6i ? (I adjusted OLE class no help.)

Previously i use DBMS or HTTP gateway to retrieve them.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, i found when i use OLE to load the file into BLOB column in database, i can only retrieve it via OLE ??!

If i retrieve the OLE stored file into OS file system via DBMS or HTTP gateway, i simply can not open it, and the fiile size is bigger than its original. Same thing as if i load the data by other means, OLE simply can not read them.

If i use SQL*loader, DBMS package to load, then same way to retrieve it, the retrieve file is the same as its original, which is perfect.

Is there a way can make OLE stored file be reable if user use other means to retrieve the file from database?
