We have a LJ4250 attached to winxp pro via usb. It takes abot 30 seconds to procewss each page of a print job. Even a test page will take this long. i have tried both the PCL6 driver ands the PS driver. Set to spool documents and start printing immediatly. Tried both 1200 and 600 dpi. Any ideas why it would be so slow processing? Her old inkjet was faster.

I have heard of problems with the fusers on these. The fusers have an extra flag that is used to detect page size. If that flag brakes, the printer thinks that you are running a smaller size media (envelope pehaps) and will slow down to prevent fuser damage. This may be one area to look in.

Have a nice day today, and a better day tomorrow!!!

Hiya, With 4200 and 4250 I have had them slow down but found if one performs a Factory reset they return to high speed.

Hi!

It's correct what neons said..

To perform a cold reset:

1. Turn the printer power off.

2. Hold down the SELECT button, and then turn the printer power on. Continue holding
down the SELECT button until all three printer control-panel lights flash once and then
remain on. This might take up to 10 seconds.

3. After the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the display, press the UP ARROW
button or the DOWN ARROW button until COLD RESET is highlighted.

4. Press the SELECT button. The printer performs a cold reset and then continues its
power-on sequence.

You could also check that the switch in the tray is set to A4 and not to custom. If this switch is set to custom or in between (A4/custom) the printer will run at half speed.

Tried the cold reste twice, no change. Confirmed that it is USB 2.0. Replaced cable. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. When attempting to print, the display goes from "processing to ready to processing to ready to processing to ready to printing". This will take up to 45-60 seconds. Printing a configuration page directly from the printer takes about 5 seconds. Any ideas?

Well if internal pages prints at normal speed we could assume that the printer itself is ok, and that it's the communication (network/printer) that causes this issue.

If you go to the printer driver - select "ports" - disable bidirectional support and do a test page from driver. Same issue?

I found out the user had plugged in the USB to the printer and computer before loading the software. Uninstalling and not plugging in until the setup asked for it, solved the problem.
