I have an HPLJ2300n printer that is networked with 5 computers. The cartridge needed replaced so we put a new one in. We only use HP cartridges-no off brands. The printer warms up and says "CARTRIDGE INSTALLED". Then it will not print.

I turned the printer off then back on. We could print one thing then the message appeared again and we couldn't print.

Any ideas??

An obvious question, but you did remove the toner strip from the cartridge before installing it in the printer?

You say it won't print. How exactly is it not printing? Is it not feeding the paper. Is the printer going through all the motions of the printing process and you're getting blank pages out.

If you're getting blank pages, it may be as the previous poster said, the strip from the cartridge.

Also, are you getting any kind of error message on the display panel?

Have you tried printing a configuration page, from the Information menu, and how does this look?

yes, i pulled the strip off of the toner.

it won't print period. zero pages. someone will try to print a document, but nothing comes out. the display screen does not change or act like a print job was even sent.

i've printed the configuration page and it looks normal.

UPDATE -

when i said i printed the configuration page, that was last week and it looked normal. i tried to print it today and only 1 page came out - the page that does NOT have the ip address...

now i'm confused

Ahh. Now we're getting someplace. The first page verified to me that the printer itself is functional. The lack of the the second page (JetDirect Configuration) indicates to me that the network card is not being recognized.

The LaserJet 2300 uses an EIO network card (the sytle of card). Most likely, you have the JetDirect 615N card. Could you verify if you in fact do have the 615N card, and send me the serial number if that is the case.

The reason being, is that there is a known issue with the 615N cards. HP will replace these cards with the newer 620N cards at no charge, provided that the serial number is within the range of those affected.

Let me know if you need anything else.
Thank you so much for your help!
