This printer has been troublesome lately. The print que cannot be cleared, print jobs will stay there after the job is done. Some have stayed there for days. We have had to restart the spooler service twice. We're running NT4 servers and XP workstations. A newer developement is that print jobs won't even go through the job goes to the print que and nothing happens you can't clear those either. I'm not sure on how to check if the printer and jet direct firmware have been updated. The Bidirectional support is off and we have two entries for the printer. "8150" which is PS and "8150 duplexer" is the PCL6. The duplexer is the one that gives the most trouble but the PS is close behind. I don't know if that makes a difference.
Please advise, thanks
Rafael

Good thing as you mention is to check up on the latest firmware versions for both the printer (20 Feb 2004 MB7.115) here : and the latest for the JetDirect :
To determine which version the current firmware of the printer and JetDirect card is simply print a config page off the printer.

Another hint is to check up on the drivers and try using a PCL 5e point-and-print bundle driver if possible (The PCL5e driver tends to be more compatible when used in cross platform environments.

Here is the solution that worked for me. First, I updated the firmware for the jetdirect card to L.25.08 and the printer to MB75.115. Just to be on the safe side since the 8150 is a network printer I moved it to a different port. I then stopped the spooler service and deleted the printer in the list on the server, restarted the spooler and went back to add the printer on the server list again. I created a new port for it because I deleted the old one as well. I selected HP Jet Direct and went from there normally. I feel that our print server is going down anyway and hope this issue does not come up again. Thanks for your input nevertheless.
