Hi,
We are planning to have Livelink migration/upgrade from 9.7.0 to CS 10.
How we will get the existing document get added to our new environment?
Thanks
Robin

Looks like you have no access to the KB .In livelink Upgrades One seldom stands up a new livelink and say migrate all the obejcts Usual method is what you will hear as "parallel Upgrade".Also to get your livelink upgarded on prodn day in say 12 hrs you emabark on a project doing many trial runs.I will briefly explain the path one does.

1)Shut down Prodn copy its database and EFS or Archive Server to new target host//unc/new archive server
2)Start your prod back up as nothing happened
3)Clean up on this copy of database remnanat of Prodn info so that you will not delete search or will not write to prod
4)Make a replica of 971 and make sure the livelink at 97 is working fine like your production
5)if needed backup this database and efs safely because you will be needing this many times over
6)Optionally run a DB5 verification to make sure you have objects in database and 100 % EFS parity

7)Install Cs10/CS10.5
8)Connect the cloned databse and wait for upagrde success or errors
9)If errors repeat until you get a start to finsih on the same day or hrs
10)Configure search
11)make procedure for prodn day
12)If optional modules are there check if 10/10.5 version exists and put them so that it is happy

DONE

If you migrate objects they will get new dataid's so people in livelink will hate you for doing that because their URL's links what not everything will break.A best way is to practice cloning a livelink this will giev you confidence on how you can replicate your prodn data then as the next step you start the "database upgrade".usually it takes about 3-5 times depending on how much bad players have hacked into the old database so when each upgrade fails you will send that to OT support. If it is a known problem they will send you a fix but the bad thing is that the upgarde will not move form that point.so you will have to rollback your database until you hit the next, next and next.If you have a claen livelink my guess is you will upgrade it in the 2nd try.

Once you have your v10 environment stood up, you attach docs/db as you would with v9. Expect it not to go smoothly and with errors/issues. This is where you use your support contract that you paid for with the vendor to get as far as you can (usually customization that holds people back).

Have fun !!!!!
