Hi,

I'm running a LES971 in Win2003. Under the LES971 admin page it is able to display the time correctly as my Win2003 server. However whenever I upload a file or create a folder, I notice its creation date is consistently 10 mins faster than the current time displayed in LES971 admin page and the Win2003 host.

Is there anyway to make the creation date reflect correctly as the LES971 admin page and Win2003?

Thanks

Yes the time you see when you set something at default-that is if you have not messed with anything is the database time for the livelink server. When an object is created livelink uses the database locale(Dt/Time) to insert the record.Go to dtree and type in this in a sql

select * from dtree where dataid=<a dataid that you know> the createtime will be the 10 mins lower than what you see in your clock.

Assuming that you want client/browser time in the admin.index pages there is a link for Administer /Date Time if you select Time zone offset for your system
then when you view the page it will show browser time which is your W2k3 time.

Since 10 mins seem to be not any TZ related I would set your w2k3 time to DB or vice -versa

TZ offset has some very difficult problems as well so I do not recommend you doing it without understanding your system

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. But my DB's host server time is already the same as my LES971 host server time. Both hosts are W2K3.

a DB can use any time set by a DBA or any person configuring the DB so it does not have to be your server time?Find a query thru google to find what time is my DB doing

in oracle if you are in a schema you can type select now from dual; in sqlserver they have the same concept as well

Please verify that the Livelink/CS server is the correct time. At the time of creation of an object the local server dateteim is used, not the db time.

Hi,

Sorry for the late follow-up.

We have tried running the following query on our Oracle DB.

And it shows that the Oracle DB timing is the same as the host's OS. So right now we have no idea where Livelink is getting its file upload time from.

Note I want to emphasize that the current, O.S, DB and Livelink time are the in-sync/same. It is just that when a file is uploaded to Livelink via its frontend, the upload time (reflected as Modified Time on the frontend) is always 10mins ahead of the current time. We have no idea where Livelink is getting this upload time from. Note we have several frontend servers and running the above upload test on all of them produce the same results.

I would employ a service desk ticket with OpenText since you are basically saying you can repeat this and 10 mins is basically a long time to be out of sync.Unfortunately I have told you most of the common things one would check again stated as a checklist.
[li]Ensure the time zone offset setting is at default[/li]
[li]use a browser on the server that you are conducting tests[/li]
[li]Put logs on the livelink server and see what the time stamp is when you see things like the add happens[/li]
[li]See what the time the response come back to your browser[/li]
[li]Make sure you are not accidentally confusing this with a Remote Cache operation for e.g if you are sending the file to a RC server and it is supposed to send the file in the next 10 mins, it should still rightfully keep the node creation time[/li]

In a standard web upload scenario, your browser sends the file to the livelink webserver and if that livelink webserver and the db server is all on the same locale there is only the minutest delay for livelnk to register teh dates.Tools liek FIDDLER may be used as well as webserver logs to track it.

I really think there could be some human/expectational error on the setup as well.Perhaps a archive server was used and TS (Time stamping) was enabled as well.

It is not easy for the forum members to completely analyze and suggest all the possibilities
