I'm new to Livelink, and want to be able to insert the Livelink filename and path into the footers of MS Office documents. Word, of course, only inserts the file path for the local workbin...

any suggestions for a fix for this would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps since you are new livelink file names are objid representation to a specific action.

For eg if I have a document in livelink called MyDoc->MyDoc is the friendly representation of a link like this.

In the general properties of livelink you have a tool that allows you to capture a clean URL like this.

However if your intent is to create a UNC representation then there is a optional livelink module (free) that is called livelink WebDav.When you install and configure and get everything working you will be able to write it like this

\\mylivelinkserver\mysandboxlivelinkdav\nodes\248153

Hope that helps and was your question

In any case the livelink server knows how to take the objid and give the caller the file.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Thank you! Both for your quick response and the thoroughness of your answer.

Yes, that is what I was asking about. WebDav looks like it will give the result that the staff are looking for.

best regards,
