Hi,
We are trying to go live with OpenText document management. Server is Livelink 9.7.1. Client is currently 10.1 SP3 with Office 2003 SP3 as the integrated office suite.
We are seeing what we think is terrible performance, but we are not sure if its a setting somewhere or if its just the way Livelink works.
Time to open a 50K word document is about 10 or 11 seconds on a standard XP desktop. A 6 Meg text file opens in about 1/2 that. I have tried it on a stripped down XP machine, with just the bits necessary to run the Office and Livelink but that doesn't help.
I have run network traces and can't really see any issues except that there seems to be a lot of XML moving back and forth.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try to remedy this? The environment is three web servers, indexing server and file server running in seperate virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 on VMWare. The datbase is SQL 2008 R2 Sp1 running on Server 2008 R2 on a physical box. Based on looking at the server performance, the servers aren't the issue. When doing mass imports we are getting about 60K documents an hour.
The system has about 2M documents currently imported and we capped the documents at 1000 per directory which sounds like it was a problem in prior versions but not 9.7.1
Finally, we have a lab environment running the 10.2 beta and performance is exactly the same (or withing a second)
Any help is appreciated.
Murray
