Hi:

Is there a way to get a list of ALL email addresses that have been created? I am receiving emails to a NULL.TERMINATOR@mydomain.com, and I want to see what that's all about.

I was thinking that if I can get a list of all the email addresses, I can figure out if it was and address created for a user or what. I know nothing about and address required for a null.terminator.

Answered in thread181-27567

Also I would post in the Virus/Spyware discussion and find out wha that nul-termanator is

Can you explain in more detail how to do that> ? Thank you for your assistance.

At the command prompt type:

ldifde -f dump.ldf -l proxyaddresses

Search the dump.ldf file for the NULL.TERMINATOR address

Thank you very much! Great tool. Just need to learn the command line switches ;)

running 'ldifde -f dump.ldf -l proxyaddresses'

didn't list the email addresses but listed all the users (and a bunch of other info I am unfamiliar with).

So, nothing found on NULL. Any other suggestion?
Thanx

Interesting. When I run this tool it dumps all the email addresses for me. It does output alot of other stuff too.

Did you look through the whole output file for blocks like the following:

proxyAddresses: X400:c=us;a= ;p=XYZ;o=Exchange;s=Surname;g=GivenName;
proxyAddresses: smtp:user@mx.xyz.com
proxyAddresses: smtp:user@xyz.com

If you're just interested in finding this one address, why not try searching AD. Open AD Users and Computers. Go right click the domain name or the OU(s) you want to search. Select find..., then go to the advanced tab. Click the field button, expand user and select email address. Then you can search for the exact string, stuff that starts with NULL, etc.

Hope this helps. Gotta run, but you can also search by using the ldp.exe tool from MS

Hope this helps

Yeah, the output on mine has not one email address. I assumed that it outputed the addresses if they are part of an OU, and they are. ? HMMMM ?

Okay, so I did a FIND (kewl BTW!!!!- didn't know that you can do that = newbie), and nothing returns with NULL in the address.

I couldn't find one such email as I deleted them, but I wanted to post the header to see if someone could point me in the correct decision. I will once another hits the server.

BTW: Thank you all for your time thus far!!!

here is a sample header from an email that my SMTP Gateway filtered that was intended for null.terminator:

" Received: from hotmail.com ([218.22.19.70])

I still can't find any objects with NULL in the name. I don't get it.
